WATERJET - CUTTING - SYSTEMS
WaterJet Cutting- The innovative cutting technique for modern materials

The Stein-Moser Waterjet is ideal for short-run part production, just-in-time manufacturing, tooling, and prototype part development. It requires no tool changes or complex fixturing, so you can reduce setup times by at least 50%. And the smooth finish it leaves behind often eliminates the need for secondary machining. As a result, the Stein-Moser Waterjet can dramatically increase your profitability.

  • Rapid setup, no tool changes are required
  • No noxious gases, liquids, or oils are used in (or caused by) the machining process
  • The work piece is neither thermally influenced nor vibrated by the water-jet
  • Does not create heat affected zones or mechanical stresses

We will consult you personally to provide you the the ideal WaterJet - Cutting machine according to your requirements!

STM Wasserstrahl 3D Schneidkopf   Bischofshofen/Schweinfurt. Up until now, nozzle effects have been an annoying yet unavoidable drawback during waterjet cutting. They were mainly caused by the ingress of sand particles during cutting and dirt when setting up. At best the consequences were downtimes and wear of spare parts, at worst, severe loss of production. All of which is now in the past.

Highlights Welding & Cutting Moscow 2009

From 12th to 15th May 2009 the third exhibition "Welding & Cutting Russia" took place in Moscow. The welding & cutting tradefair itself is the most important industry event of the welding trade. Only on this leading tradefair the global market, global know-how, the decision makers from companies and leading minds from science meet. We participated with a waterjet cutting system of the latest generation. Although the show itself occupied only a small part of the exhibition grounds, there was a huge stampede of visitors.

GOOD FROM EXPERIENCE
With more than 20 years of tradition, STM is amongst the very first waterjet cutting pioneers

At STM GmbH, waterjet cutting means both systems and tradition.
23 years ago, the Austrian company began series production of its own systems. Right from the start, the aim of the company was to offer its customers bespoke manufacturing solutions with series production quality and first class service. With success: today, STM is one of the world's leading waterjet cutting specialists. With an attractive price-performance ratio, great ease of use as well as high wear resistance, ease of maintenance and efficiency, the compact portal systems mean even small and medium sized companies can make use of this rapidly growing tool technology. But not only that: thanks to intensive research in cooperation with well known institutions, STM guarantees continuity, not only from an organisational point of view but also from a technological point of view. In addition, a mature network of suppliers and sales partners ensures we profit from close and trouble-free cooperation.

COST CUTTING CUBED
With a unique CAD/CAM solution, STM is significantly expanding the range-of- use spectrum for 3D waterjet cutting

Three-dimensional cutting processes using waterjet cutting technology have until now demonstrated only limited success. Especially using abrasive cutting processes, the CAD/CAM connection was less efficient that a robot solution, but this has now changed: The Austrian waterjet specialist STM has hit upon this niche for itself and has, together with a German system partner, Maximator JET GmbH, developed an application, which for the first time is making smooth and above all parallel 2D and 3D water jet cutting with and without abrasive possible. Hence the system combines the performance capabilities of 3D robots with the economy of waterjet technology. Users also profit from the flexibility of this technology, which makes possible both parallel manufacturing processes and "on the fly" material changeovers. Consequently this innovation is of general interest to the processing industry. Especially non-standard, complex cutting processes can thus be designed so that they are quicker, generate less waste and provide clear cost-savings while maintaining the same quality level.

EFFICIENCY CLASS A FOR STM WATERJET CUTTING SYSTEMS
Waterjet cutting is ecological, economic and practical - one of the most future-proof manufacturing solutions

At no point in time are production processes more under the microscope than in times of crisis. Equally of concern are possible savings, efficiency increases and, often state-aided, ecological aspects. That’s three reasons why water cutting technology is booming worldwide and across different industries. Because water cutting technology saves energy, material, time and your nerves. High time for decision makers to pay more attention to this technology, its opportunities for use and its commercial advantages. This applies for nearly all industries, but especially for those processing steel and stainless steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metal plastic, stone and marble. These are also the core markets of the Austrian water cutting technology specialist, STM. The company impressively demonstrates with its standard quality products, how resource saving and universal this cold cutting process is.

"Easier maintenance by the newly developed abrasive dosing head!"

The new type of abrasive dosing head saves valuable time at the maintenance. An optimized constructive solution simplifies both the general handling as well as the maintenance.

Juergen Moser, managing director of STM Waterjet Solutions, explains: "The abrasive dosing head in its previous design worked good, although cleaning and maintenance e.g. after a water splash back were difficult."

A water splash back can occur when the jet focus sets on the Workpiece. During a water splash back water runs up the abrasive hose into the funnel towards the glass case.

The new constructive solution of the abrasive dosing head, a compact unit, makes the maintenance much easier for the customers. To get to the parts to maintain no covers have to be taken off any more. The funnel under the dosing unit is composed of a simple sliding mechanism that can be taken out simply. Stoppage in the abrasive dosing head can be removed quickly and easily.

Also, the venting of the glass case of the abrasive dosing head has been completely redesigned. The upper cap presents a specially developed venting profile in order to avoid building up pressure in the inside of the glass case.

The focus on the customers needs and a continuing technical development, as in the actual case of the redesigned abrasive dosing head, lead to gradual optimisation of technical solutions of machine components.

For Jürgen Moser is important, "to always continue developing and improving, and to be leader in offering very good quality of the standard components as well as of the service offered to the customer."

Waterjet cutting systems for the future

A brand new generation of STM Waterjet Systems has been developed to meet the specific needs of our clients and their special cutting applications. A modern concept and efficient design characterize a reliable system that fulfils the latest shape cutting requirements.

STM Waterjet Systems offer our clients flexible, high-performance and tailor-made cutting solutions for any material and desired shape.
Powered by a HYTRON High Pressure pump from Böhler/ Austria with a maximum pressure of 400 MPa, STM Waterjet Systems find their daily, efficient application in cutting various materials up to a thickness of 100mm, including:
• industrial gaskets, plastic materials, rubber
• foam materials
• stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium
• carbon fiber reinforced plastic, carbon fiber, composite materials
• granite, marble, glass, ceramics

The key benefits are that this waterjet cut does NOT cause any thermal stress and does NOT set free any toxic dust and/or vapor. The only tool we are using is pure water or – in abrasive mode – water and garnet sand. That’s it!
