Stone+tec Nuremberg 2009:
Cloudy, but mainly bright
The mood at Stone+tec Nürnberg 2009, the 16th International Trade Fair Natural Stone and Stoneprocessing Technology held in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 20-23 May, largely corresponded to the early summer weather outside the halls: cloudy, but mainly bright. Some 34,000 trade visitors used the four days of the exhibition to source information about the latest range of international products and services in the exhibition segments of natural stone, technology, and gravestones and accessories.

COST CUTTING CUBED
With a unique CAD/CAM solution, STM is significantly expanding the range-of- use spectrum for 3D waterjet cutting
Three-dimensional cutting processes using waterjet cutting technology have until now demonstrated only limited success. Especially using abrasive cutting processes, the CAD/CAM connection was less efficient that a robot solution, but this has now changed: The Austrian waterjet specialist STM has hit upon this niche for itself and has, together with a German system partner, Maximator JET GmbH, developed an application, which for the first time is making smooth and above all parallel 2D and 3D water jet cutting with and without abrasive possible. Hence the system combines the performance capabilities of 3D robots with the economy of waterjet technology. Users also profit from the flexibility of this technology, which makes possible both parallel manufacturing processes and "on the fly" material changeovers. Consequently this innovation is of general interest to the processing industry. Especially non-standard, complex cutting processes can thus be designed so that they are quicker, generate less waste and provide clear cost-savings while maintaining the same quality level.
EFFICIENCY CLASS A FOR STM WATERJET CUTTING SYSTEMS
Waterjet cutting is ecological, economic and practical - one of the most future-proof manufacturing solutions
At no point in time are production processes more under the microscope than in times of crisis. Equally of concern are possible savings, efficiency increases and, often state-aided, ecological aspects. That’s three reasons why water cutting technology is booming worldwide and across different industries. Because water cutting technology saves energy, material, time and your nerves. High time for decision makers to pay more attention to this technology, its opportunities for use and its commercial advantages. This applies for nearly all industries, but especially for those processing steel and stainless steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metal plastic, stone and marble. These are also the core markets of the Austrian water cutting technology specialist, STM. The company impressively demonstrates with its standard quality products, how resource saving and universal this cold cutting process is.
On Thursday the 15th january during the 24th "Education Week of Bavarian & Austrian master stonemasons 2009" STM invited all the participants of the event to a waterjet cutting demonstration at the production site in Bischofshofen. Afterwards a traditional cottage evening with meat dumplings and traditional music was organised on the "Mosott Alm". The STM team would like to thank again all guests for coming!
"Easier maintenance by the newly developed abrasive dosing head!"
The new type of abrasive dosing head saves valuable time at the maintenance. An optimized constructive solution simplifies both the general handling as well as the maintenance. Juergen Moser, managing director of STM Waterjet Solutions, explains: "The abrasive dosing head in its previous design worked good, although cleaning and maintenance e.g. after a water splash back were difficult."
A water splash back can occur when the jet focus sets on the Workpiece. During a water splash back water runs up the abrasive hose into the funnel towards the glass case. The new constructive solution of the abrasive dosing head, a compact unit, makes the maintenance much easier for the customers. To get to the parts to maintain no covers have to be taken off any more. The funnel under the dosing unit is composed of a simple sliding mechanism that can be taken out simply. Stoppage in the abrasive dosing head can be removed quickly and easily. Also, the venting of the glass case of the abrasive dosing head has been completely redesigned. The upper cap presents a specially developed venting profile in order to avoid building up pressure in the inside of the glass case.
The focus on the customers needs and a continuing technical development, as in the actual case of the redesigned abrasive dosing head, lead to gradual optimisation of technical solutions of machine components.
For Jürgen Moser is important, "to always continue developing and improving, and to be leader in offering very good quality of the standard components as well as of the service offered to the customer."
"Euro Euroblech " - 2008
Together with our German distributor and with a completely redesigned booth we were represented at the EuroBLECH 2008.
With 69.400 trade visitors the fair was also for us a great success! Especially the presentation of our newly developed abrasive dosing unit attracted great interest among the visitors.
